Marlo Thomas Opens in “Clever Little Lies” Tonight at George Street Playhouse

Marlo Thomas Yes, it’s that girl, Marlo Thomas, who will be appearing at New Jersey’s George Street Playhouse as she heads the cast in the world premiere of “Clever Little Lies.” The show was written by Joe DiPietro’s and it begins performances tonight, Nov. 19 and continues through Dec. 22, 2013. Mr. DiPietro won a Tony Award in 2010 for Best Book of a Musical for “Memphis” and was nominated again two years later for “Nice Work if You Can Get It.”

In addition to Ms. Thomas, the cast includes Greg Mullavey (“I-Carly,” “Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman”), Jim Stanek (“Freud’s Last Session,” “The Story of My Life,” “Lestat”) and Kate Wetherhead (“Legally Blonde,” “Submissions Only”).

The production is directed by David Saint. It is billed on theater notes as:

A mother always knows when something’s up. Bill Jr. is distracted, under pressure and off his game. Will a surprising evening with his parents send him further off-kilter? Secrets are exposed and clever little lies are crafted when a confidence shared between father and son escalates into an unexpected revelation that could change everything.
