“On the Town” Promotional Video

Here’s a great promo video for the new show “On the Town” that is scheduled to begin previews on September 20, 2014. The show will run at the Foxwoods Theatre on W. 42nd Street. The song “New York, New York” is a great opener for any show in the City.

Just by luck, I was channel surfing last night and caught the opening of the show “So You Think You Can Dance” and got to see the complete opening number with dancers included.

It’s only an early look but if the rest of the show is as good as these early promos are showing, well, I think I might be smelling a hit brewing.

‘The Tempest’ at Shakespeare Theatre of NJ

A very fine production of William Shakespeare’s “farewell play,” The Tempest is now playing through June 22, 2014 at the Shakespeare Theatre of NJ. It was a beautiful spring evening last weekend when I went to Madison to see this show. Everything on the Drew campus looked so lovely that it just added to the ethereal feeling produced in the theater by this show.

You can read my review of the show on Examiner.com by clicking this link.

The following photos were provided by the Shakespeare Theatre of NJ and are being used with their permission. All photos are © Jerry Dalia, The Shakespeare Theatre of New Jersey.

Howard Sherman plays Prospero, a man of magic. His opening speech sets the story up and his closing speeches is very touching to listen to and appreciate.

Eri Partin plays the spirit, Ariel. She moves around the stage with grace and dexterity and is lovely to watch.

Prospero’s lovely young daughter, Miranda, is thrilled to meet the King’s son, Ferdinand and falls in love with him and he with her.

The humor of drunken Stephano and Trinculo along with Caliban are carefully watched and heard by Ariel who is sleuthing to help her master, Prospero.

The plottings of Sebastian and Antonio are overheard by Ariel.
