After nearly two and half years on Broadway, the Tony Award winning show “Newsies” will close August 24. Before it does, they are offering a nice chance to get to see it at a very reasonable price.
A limited number of tickets will be available via lottery July 28-Aug. 23 at The Nederlander Theatre. Entries for lottery tickets will be accepted at the Nederlander box office Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 4:30 PM; Tuesday evenings at 5:30 PM; Wednesday and Saturday matinees at 10:30 AM; and Sunday matinees at 11:30 AM.
Names will be drawn at random 30 minutes following the start of entries being accepted. Winners may purchase up to two $30 tickets. Only cash will be accepted for payment. Winners must be present at the time of the drawing and they must provide valid ID. And as always, tickets are subject to availability.
The show has been described in the show’s press notes as
“Set in New York City at the turn of the century, Newsies is the rousing tale of Jack Kelly, a charismatic newsboy and leader of a ragged band of teenaged ‘newsies,’ who dreams only of a better life far from the hardship of the streets. But when publishing titans Joseph Pulitzer and William Randolph Hearst raise distribution prices at the newsboys’ expense, Jack finds a cause to fight for and rallies newsies from across the city to strike for what’s right.”
