Halloween is being celebrated by the theater community in New York beginning this weekend. Here are some of the shows we spotted which feature a Halloween theme.
This Weekend
The Canal Room is hosting “Nightmare on Canal Street” which includes prizes for the best costume and a show by the 80’s Tribute Band Jessie’s Girl featuring “Rock of Ages” Tony Nominee Constantine Maroulis. Doors open at 10:00 p.m. There is also an 8:00 p.m. show with Constantine and Jessie’s Girl. Check the website www.canalroom.com for information and tickets.
Two other “Rock of Ages” alumni, MiG Ayesa and Angel Reed, will be a part of the Rock’nRock Debauchery show “Nightmares” at the Cutting Room. The show also features other Broadway dancers and singers for a 10:00 p.m. show presented by Studio7Arts which includes a Best Costume Contest. Visit the website for the Cutting Room, thecuttingroomnyc.com for information and tickets.
Halloween – Oct. 31, 2013
The Broadway show “Annie” invites show goers to celebrate Halloween at the Palace Theatre by coming to the performance in their Halloween costumes and get a trick-or-treating surprise. More information is available on the Annie website, anniethemusical.com.
Perhaps the most famous of all events in New York City for this holiday is the Village Halloween Parade. If you want to walk with the crowd, turn up in costume at Sixth Ave between Canal and Spring Streets, Oct 31 between 6:30–8:30 p.m.
