THE BROADWAY / THEATER DISTRICT – HISTORY, SHOWS, & THE MAGIC

This walking tour covers the heart of the Broadway Theater District concentrating on W. 44th – W. 46th Streets. Hear about the early days of the Theater District and how it came to be what it is today. This tour goes past theaters that host the longest running and most popular shows. Get up-to-date information about what shows are playing and some tips on getting tickets. Walk through Shubert Alley, see Sardi’s Restaurant, and other area attractions. The tour concludes in the very popular Duffy Square section of Times Square where the Red Steps and TKTS booth are.

No trip to New York is complete without visiting this area and this tour will help you see why.

WEST 42ND STREET – THEATER ROW AND HELL’S KITCHEN

This walking tour covers the blocks between 9th and 11th Avenues on West 42nd Street. This area was once home to brothels, peep shows, and drug houses. Hear about the work of the 42nd Street Development Corporation in transforming the area. Find out how the project, which began in 1975, included Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis and others who were determined to transform the area. See the results of this enormous theater development project that we enjoy today including modern Off-Broadway theaters, fine eating establishments and living spaces. Each person receives a handout with a listing of the most current shows playing in these theaters. This tour will help you see why this area has become one of the nicest and hottest spots in New York City.
