On the Road Summer 2021

Summer is a great time to travel. I like my travels to include some visits to theaters that I would not normally go to. I started doing this a few years ago but could not do last summer because of the CoVid shutdown of most live theater. So this year with being vaccinated, I hit the road running up to New England.

My first stop was in Guilford, CT. I wanted to see something at Goodspeed Theatre but the show playing there that night was sold out. Probably just as well since the trip up had taken longer than planned with the traffic. But Guilford is a sweet little town. I did get to the Guilford Lobster Pound where I sampled their lobster role and found it to be quite tasty and very satisfying.

My next stop was to a friend’s home in the Kittery/Eliot Maine area. Another friend flew in from Michigan. We had not seen each other since before the pandemic so we had a good time catching up on things. Together, the three of us traveled to southern New Hampshire to the Rochester Opera House and the next day, we attended a show at the Ogunquit Playhouse in Maine. Both of these visits have separate posts.

The lady from Michigan was unable to join us on the final leg of the journey which was up to Bar Harbor. I had not been there in many years so it was a very fulfilling journey. We took a tour of Acadia National Park which which included a live driver/tour guide. After attending that tour, I realized how much people miss out on when they don’t have a live person guiding them. Prerecorded drive alongs just don’t cut it!

So check back for the next group of installments of my Summer 2021 On the Road reports.
